Manila Food Trip: Missing Penpen Restaurant

When I finished my three short films (Kuya Bunso, The 12th of June and Positive), most of my friends here in Manila wanted me to organize a little film screening where they can watch my films and at the same time enjoy good food. Somebody suggested that I try out Penpen Restaurant since they hold weekly film screenings there.

Two weeks before the actual film get-together, Maire and I decided to check the place out after my Sunday work. We went there and we’re lucky to catch Ping Medina, the owner of Penpen Restaurant. He is regularly seen in some Philippine Independent Films like Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, Tukso, Mayohan, Noy among others. He was last seen in the ABS-CBN teleseryes like Mara Clara and Green Rose.

I ordered Tapsilog and Tinapa Flakes Pasta. I also love the atmosphere of the place and Ping showed to me the upper area, where the film screenings and parties are usually held. Their Tuesdays are jampacked with their ‘Pasta All You Can’. They also offer free wifi and you can freely surf for the Best All Inclusive Deals for your next travel or you can blog and access your social networking sites while waiting for your order.

I browsed through their Facebook page now and found out that they closed their Tomas Morato branch. I think they’re moving in another location soon. I hope they re-open ASAP because I am seriously craving for their pasta sauces. Yay for Pasta Addiction!

And I also miss Ping Medina. I wonder why he’s not a part of any Cinemalaya New Breed Category film this year. Hmmm… Not used to it.

  1. The food looks delicious. I probably should never go on the buffet evening 😛 I can hardly control myself. I’d really like to try the Tinapa Flakes Pasta.
