The first day of our Taipei City Tour is jam-packed with walking and learning activities. Visiting museums, tall buildings, solemn shrines and temples can be overwhelming. Add the fact that it’s winter season, a tourist from a tropical country who loves to pig out needs to rest a bit and eat!
The Shilin Night Market is one of the most popular night markets within Taipei. Half of the people included in the tour were excited to roam around to shop for clothes, or maybe some pasalubongs they can bring back home for relatives and loved ones. Me? I belong to the other half. I want to sit down and pig out! Asap, baby!
We were given two hours to gallivant around the vicinities of the Shilin Night Market. They gave us food coupons worth $200.
The gang went straight to the ‘underground’ food court. While we’re on the stairs approaching the main area, the aroma of several food selections just made us hungry on the spot. Time to look around!
Honestly, we were quite overwhelmed with the number of food stalls. Almost every section have something good to offer! It seems like our coupons are not enough. Within a few minutes, we settled in this stall that offers fried dishes.
“May I take your order?†a lovely ordertaker approached us.
I can still remember the glow in Hannah’s face when she took the first bite of the Salmon. She claims it is the best Salmon dish she ever tasted. Yoshke and I feel the same way. I think it costs around $100 and it is relatively cheap, to be honest.
We wouldn’t miss the opportunity to grab some authentic Milk Tea!
If we had more time to stay at the Shilin Night Market, I could’ve spent a lot on food and drinks alone. No shopping for me!
We still have enough time left! We went to the other side of the market and hoarded these mini cakes as pasalubong to our loved ones. Let’s just say we were able to get a good deal 😉 I am also tempted to buy some giant fruits.
Yoshke, Hannah and I continued to roam around. This time, we’re doing a bit of window shopping. While my two friends were busy looking for clothes and bags, I am eyeing on… wigs… and pumps.
