Start Again. Hello World!

HELLO!

It’s been a while since I wrote a blog entry here. A lot of things happened the past years and just like my contemporaries in personal/travel blogging, my priorities changed and in a way, blogging became a casualty.

It is quite funny that every new year, I set some goals for the year. I almost hit all of them except being consistent in reviving the blogs I own. From time to time, I’d meet up with blogger friends and ask for tips and hope that their advices or presence will somewhat push me to do some action. I am embarrassed to admit that with the absence of weekly blogging from my routine, getting back at it became a ‘burden’. Yeah, I know. It sucks, right?

But hey, I didn’t completely neglect writing in general!

Life as a Scriptwriter and Article Contributor

Since 2021, I’ve been lucky because my dream of becoming a scriptwriter for TV came true! I am happy and proud to say that I already wrote a lot of heartwarming and intense stories for two top-rating shows here in the Philippines: Regal Studio Presents and Tadhana (Destiny). Both shows are special to me and I do have fun exploring different topics and work with talented directors/actors. I had plans of creating a separate blog about my other passion, but I keep on postponing it.

I also do contribute still for PhilstarLife. I would write BTS/KDrama/KPop/Pinoy showbiz-related articles.

Meet Butterbear, my imaginary buttery bestfriend

With script and article writing, I often end up exhausted to make an effort on my personal blogs. I do plan and plot the articles I would like to write about (music reviews, travel guides and reflections), but again, I end up delaying it until it gets outdated. Ugh. That sucks!

Morning Pages/Journaling

Years ago, I came across Lavandaire’s video about morning pages. Since I don’t realistically wake up early, I end up practicing daily writing on paper as if I’m a teenager writing in a diary. It’s just me, my BT21 pen and my journal. I write my thoughts, plans, rants and even my budget. I also have a separate notebook for plotting revenge (for TV!!) and I often write the topics I’d like to write in case I get my blogging groove back.

Traveling with a Different Purpose

I still travel from time to time. I often list down the places where I stay, itinerary, tips, restaurants and more useful info, but I end up forgetting them whenever I have a deadline.

In terms of traveling and travel blogging, I will be honest – I am not as outgoing as I used to. I guess it has something to do with change of interest/priorities, reluctance in embracing other social media platforms and being content staying put for months and rewarding myself with a trip after I did a good job at something. I now have different reasons for traveling (for family, special occasions or fangirling) and that’s okay.

Starting Again with a new laptop

I am now using a new laptop as I type this. I am not really the type of person who loves gadgets so it took me 11 years and my laptop self-destructing in order to get a new one. (Thank you A.I!). Guess what? Just a day had passed and I’ve done a lot of work and blog-related tasks. Did the old laptop cause my ‘slow’ progress in terms of blogging and admin stuff? I think yes. But I don’t regret sticking with that one. I love that laptop and I will still try to salvage it (we were together for 11 years!). Maybe I will write a separate blog post about it soon. I am no quitter. Laban!

Will I blog regularly again? Maybe yes, maybe not. I can’t really promise, but one thing’s for sure: I am inspired to make my blogs work again. Let’s write more stories (whether through blogging or scriptwriting) and make more money!

To fellow bloggers (or former bloggers) reading this: How are you? Are you still blogging actively? What are you priorities now?

  1. Aww. Happy to read a personal update again from you. I can relate to the reluctance to embrace other social media platforms. It’s understandable that reflections and personal blogs become the lowest priority, especially with all your scriptwriting gigs. Buti nga may time to write pa sa iba. But isn’t it great to still have an outlet where you are totally in control? Laban lang! Kaya natin ito. Also, nice ng photos sa coworking space. Haha.

WAAAA welcome back. Commenting here and not on FB for the classic feel! I myself have done some soul searching and have made it a point to start blogging again about tech.

Congrats on PhilSTAR Life! I handle the tech section naman!

I’m so proud of you Ate for making the time to post this! Hehehehe there’s just too many ganaps and priorities we have to face everyday. Yet, we always come back to what we love doing.. our internal compass is always going to anchor us to the things we are truly passionate about.. and lucky us the opportunities are still here waiting! To more chika and blog entries, cheers!
