Where to Eat in Taipei: Silks Palace

Our short stay at the National Palace Museum didn’t just make us all hungry for more detailed artifacts and carvings. It also made us crave for real food to feed our stomach. We failed to explore all the sections of the museum, but I’m sure every individual included in the tour have seen enough to appreciate a Asian art and history.

Silks Palace in Taipei – I bet this place looks more sophisticated at night

‘Are you hungry? Don’t worry, It’s almost lunch time!’ the jolly Johnny told us while raising the blue flag for everyone to see. We were directed to Silks Palace, one of the food establishments found within the vicinity of the National Palace Museum.

Taiwan is famous for its themed restaurants. Entering Silks Palace felt like we’re about to enter another section of the museum. The interior design is a fusion of Asian historical and futuristic inspiration.

Since we’re a big group, we were ushered to one of the VIP rooms. Cerbrina, one of the tour guides joined us. We were able to share some thoughts about Taiwan and the Philippines as we wait for our meal.

Exchanging stories with a local is better when enjoying a full meal. Little did any of us know that we’re set to face an overwhelming number of food choices and servings!

Food overload! Take note that the food featured at the images above comprises the FIRST PART of the meal. I wanted to explore Silks Palace more, but we ran out of time (or should I blame my lazy self for not leaving the dining table immediately? Hehe). They also serve food versions of the National Palace Museum’s icons. Edible sourvenir, eh?

Kevin, Cerbrina, Mica and Hannah – Pose, Turn, Flaunt!

The whole group went outside to walk around. As expected, the bloggers grabbed this camwhoring opportunity! Nasa Taipei kami!!!!

Roaming around the museum may cause internal restlessness. The desire to see more detailed artifacts will make one hungry. Silks Palace is an interesting restaurant with a twist. The best finale to your National Palace Museum is by walking around and enjoying the view.

Have you been to Taipei? What are the other ‘themed restaurants’ you’ve visited? I honestly want to visit the Hello Kitty and Hospital-themed one, but our stay in Taipei is too short. Another reason to go back!
