Where to Stay in Vigan : Grandpa’s Inn

Since Vigan is known for its Spanish colonial houses, it is best to stay in a hotel which will give you an ‘old and rustic’ ambiance, right?

When I asked my travel blogger friends for recommendations on where to stay in Vigan, majority suggested for Grandpa’s Inn. It is just located near the famous Calle Crisologo. Most of the hotels in Vigan have expensive rates. I saw some pictures and read reviews in several travel sites and yeah, I’m sold! I’ll stay there!

I arrived at the Partas Vigan Station and took a tricycle ride to Grandpa’s Inn. I called a day before and the receptionist told me that they’re not expecting many guests. When I arrived at the lobby area, I didn’t want to leave.

The cheapest room is a shared ordinary fan room with common bathroom (Php690). This specific room looked a bit ‘modern’ so I moved to the Ordinary Fan Room with toilet and bath (Php900). The complimentary breakfast and cable tv is a good plus too. I need to watch my telenovelas!

Some rooms of Grandpa’s Inn are under renovation. I felt at home in this room. Due to the hospitality of the staff, I felt like a family guest.

There are three restaurants within the vicinities of Grandpa’s Inn: Cafe Uno (Coffee Shop), Kusina Felecitas and Uno Grille (Outdoor). Cafe Uno served as my ‘dining room’ for two nights. I will write a separate review about it.

That hotel certainly has the old and rustic ambiance! It’s almost like a museum. I admire you, Mica. For some reason, I can’t sleep in rooms that look “ancient”; the ambiance creeps me out, and my imagination runs overdrive.

Thanks Nadia! I didn’t mind the possible ‘horror’ I might encounter in the old hotel. What happened to me prior to the trip is more scarier hehe I need to escape for a bit 😛

Pwede na siguro sa inyo yung shared room hehe good for three sya. I think Grandpa’s Inn is the cheapest along Calle Crisologo, but you can also check Henady Inn. Php250 ata ang cheapest na dorm room nila, but you need to take a tricycle ride to get to Calle Crisologo or 15 minutes walk 🙂

  4. Nice! I didn’t take photos of the lobby and the decor. Ganda talaga! My fave place in Vigan! I stayed in the 690 room and I thought bathroom lang difference from the 900 one. Sulit na din pala yung upgrade!
Also, slightly creepy ata yung may mirror ka sa paanan. Isn’t that like bad feng shui? Or baka ive watched too many asian horror flicks lang. 😛

Nung una medyo creepy yung feeling na may mirror sa paanan, pero niready ko na lang sarili ko just in case may magpakita =)) buti na lang wala. mas takot ako sa bad stranger 😛
