Kapurpurawan Rock Formation, You Take My Breath Away!

Our visit to Kapurpurawan Rock Formation or the White Rock Formation in Burgos, Ilocos Norte is my favorite part of our Tricycle Tour. I’ve seen pictures of it in blogs and magazines. Must. Go. There. ASAP!

‘Ouch, Aray! Hahaha!’. I was laughing out loud while my head is hitting the roof of the trike due to the bumpy road. This sacrifice better be worth it!

Jason, are you ready?

We had to take a short trek before reaching the famous white rock formations. By the way, Kapurpurawan means ‘whiteness’ in Ilocano. I only hear that word everytime my mom or relatives in the mother side force me to use whitening lotion (aglosyon ka nga naynay para pumudaw ka met) or when one apply to much powder on the face (agado ti powder nga ingkabil mo, kapurpurawan ti rupam!)

The view from afar made me more curious. A caretaker greeted us while we were busy taking pictures. I thought we need to pay for an entrance fee, I’m glad it is free of charge. I asked some questions related to the developmental plans and the bonsai mangroves. I think it is ok if they add a small stall for drinks before the hiking point. Naughty me asked if I will be reprimanded if I pick some of the small bonsai. He smiled and told me that I will need to pay Php10,000 and spend some quiet time in jail. No thanks.

As we walk near the Kapurpurawan White Rock Formation, I can’t help but be amazed with its beauty. Nature’s beauty at its finest!

It was a hot sunny day and I am not really sure if we brought a bottle of water with us. We took touristy pictures and stayed a bit longer.

For some reason, the music video of Emma Bunton for the song ‘Take My Breath Away’ kept on replaying in my head as I stand in one of the best spots facing the deep blue sea. I may not be in Sardinia, Italy that very moment, but why should I travel there if I have this equally breathtaking view in here? Add some horses from Vigan and good-looking men, we can shoot a similar music video here. Teehee.

^ Watch the video if you love Emma Bunton a.k.a. Baby Spice or just for a dose of inspiration.

I am loving Ilocandia more and more as I explore its magnificent places. We’re lucky because we were the only ones in the area when we arrived. Feeling the cool breeze and hearing the strong splash of the waves to the rock formations made me feel alive. Woohoo it is nice to disconnect and be in love with nature!

Haan ko kayat nga agawid! Idtoy ak laengen! (I don’t want to go home! I’d rather stay here!).

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation is a true gem of Ilocos Norte. I just hope that the tourism department of Ilocos Norte will take good care of it and so far, they’re doing a good job with the maintenance.
