Blue Lagoon in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

Before Jason and I went to Blue Lagoon in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, a silently recall some of the scenes from the movie ‘Blue Lagoon’, the 80’s flick with Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins as lead stars. I remember watching the film countless times in a movie cable channel way back. Did they shoot the movie here in the Philippines? I guess you all know the answer… NO.

Our Kapurpurawan Rock Formation activity is a fun one, yet it turned us into hungry travelers afterwards. We were supposed to visit Kabigan Falls first, but we didn’t have enough energy to do more trekking since our stomachs were complaining. Jason and I decided to just go straight to Blue Lagoon for our late lunch.

I remember that we stopped in one part to take pictures and visit one cave. Unfortunately, the weather got worse. Safety first, We went back to the trike and drove straight to Blue Lagoon.

Before the rain comes…

I am happy to see a number of ‘paluto’ or food stalls in the area. Visitors can also inquire in one of the homestays if they want to spend more time in Blue Lagoon on a budget.

Kuya Joseph (tricycle driver/guide), Jason and I ordered a simple meal. I think our bill didn’t exceed Php100, which is good teehee.

Gloomy afternoon beach bumming at Blue Lagoon

What a gloomy afternoon! I am glad though that we reached Blue Lagoon just in time. After eating lunch and exchanging stories, we asked Kuya Joseph to bring us to a certain part of the beach.

Jason vs the Waves

The waves of Blue Lagoon were wild! I tried to swim once, but I got scared. I love the beach, but I can’t swim hehe. It didn’t stop Jason from enjoying his time in Blue Lagoon. He kept himself busy swimming while I took pictures and observed some of the tourists in the area.

Aside from the locals, I spotted a number of tourists enjoying their time in this part of Ilocos. It made me smile that at least, this part of Northern Luzon is being visited by foreigners. It’s nice to meet more people as you travel around the world or even within the Philippines. Most travelers prefer to visit the beaches of Visayas (you know which one is the most popular) and I couldn’t blame them. I can see the effort of Ilocos Norte’s tourism team on promoting Ilocandia’s beautiful spots.

Adrenaline Rush?

I later on found out that you can take surfing lessons there (thanks to the Lakbay Norte 3 peeps!). I also spotted some who were enjoying parasailing and paragliding activities. With the weather condition that day, I bet they got the adrenaline rush they paid for.

We stayed there for an hour and I am looking forward to a sunny comeback! Blue Lagoon in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte is a nice spot. If I remember it right, there are three resorts within the area to choose from if you’re digging your something romantic. Budget travelers can try any of the homestays within the area.
