BOH Tea Plantation & Factory in Cameron Highlands: A Tea Lover’s Paradise

While we were making tentative plans about our trip to Cameron Highlands in Pahang, Malaysia, I already imagined myself taking touristy pictures within the vicinity of a Tea Plantation. Images of me running like a little kid within the tea field screaming at the top of my lungs looked appealing to me.

But of course, I didn’t do that (although I wanted to HAHA)

BOH Tea Plantation & Factory in Cameron Highlands : A Tea Lover's Haven!

Right after our lunch in a small Indian Restaurant, the group endured a heavy traffic towards the BOH Tea Plantation and Factory. It was a fine Saturday. Local and Foreign tourists alike flock to enjoy the afternoon with their family and friends in the tea field.

I can’t keep still. The traffic jam is quite bearable because of the wonderful scenery of the tea plantation, which is as far as the eye can see. It reminded me of our very own Banaue Rice Terraces. Wonderful.

Our first stop is in the BOH Tea Factory, where we witnessed how the process on how the teas are being processed (from Plucking to Storage). There’s this one corner where the visitors can learn more about the history of BOH Tea Plantation & Factory,  the biggest producers of Black Tea in Malaysia.

BOH's Souvenir Shop

We spent more time at the souvenir area just because we were quite overwhelmed with the big selection of teas that we can take home. I think 1/4 of my stay there was spent beside the Free Iced Tea Sample section with the local kids LOL. I bought a pack of BOH Teh Tarik Less Sugar (Milk Tea). They also have a Body Care selection where vanity essentials like soaps, body gel, lotions and perfumes are for sale. I bought a postcard too!

I'm loving TEA afternoon in TEA Haven!

I am happy that we were given a chance to enjoy our stay at the Tea Plantation at our own pace. It would have been cool to stay in the outdoor cafe sipping Iced Teh Tarik while looking at the scenic view of the Tea Plantation. Cool breeze of a sunny afternoon while working on some tasks in your laptop. Whew. This is TEA life! 😀

I went to the tea plantations in the Cameron Highlands about 6 years ago. I thought there wouldn’t be much to see except big expanses of leaves, but the tour of the factory was really interesting and we had a naturalist telling us about all of the other flora and fauna in the area too. We also visited an Orang Asli tribe and learned how to use a blow pipe to kill…a flip flop! I got a bull’s eye. Good times 🙂
