My Unusual Morning in Batad Village

GOOD MORNING BATAD! Waking up in a simple room with the windows open is unusual for me. The window of my own room is covered by a brown curtain that’s why I am always at lost whenever I wake up. I need to check my clock or peep through the window to know if the sun is up or if I woke up at night again. I have a very weird sleeping pattern, but it adjusts automatically when I am traveling.

What a beautiful morning view! Good morning!

Alex and I woke up at 7AM. We heard our companions’ voices, who were already in the balcony taking pictures while some are seated waiting for our breakfast.

Breakfast Time!

That morning, I ordered Corned Beef with Rice plus a cup of coffee. Wow. Waking up on a sunny day in Batad is so refreshing! No pollution and no unwanted noises.

Kumain na kayo ng kumain kasi magte-trek tayo ulit at mas nakakapagod yung pabalik‘ – Dominic warned us. Some wanted to take the chance to pass by Tappiya Falls, but time constraints won’t allow them to do so.

Right after our breakfast, Dom, Alex and I went to the other home stay located just beside Simon’s. Dom said that they saw my friend Robbie’s photo posted in their souvenir wall. It is also the place where they bought the rice wine.

The Creative Dork spotted!

When we arrived, I familiar man welcomed us. He was busy eating his breakfast, but still managed to make us feel at home in his humble abode.

I charge Php20 per picture LOL

‘Want to take a photo with this Ifugao costume?’ the old man asked us. Of course, we said yes! It is time to wear the Ifugao costume and do touristy fun shots 😛 When we asked how much, he said that it is entirely for free. How nice!

I looked at the man again then I figured out that I saw his photo at the blog of Traveling Ted! I think someone printed his photo and gave it to Batad’s rice wine king. Oh there, his name is Romeo! I wanted to take a photo with him, but he refused since he’s still eating his meal and not yet ready for his close-up. Hehe 😀

The Eskapo Team! DABEST!

We went back to Simon’s Inn for the final photo op with the whole group. We don’t want to leave yet, but we have to. We need to trek back to the jeepney point. I opted to let a porter carry my bag not because I am lazy to bring my things. I also figured out that it is an added income for them. 🙂

We have the same text on our pink shirts! What a coincidence :))

Watch the video clip below. Country Music for the whole village to hear! Made me feel like we’re in cowboy land or something hehe 😀

Before we left Batad, I bought some Stick-O as my hiking snack. I am just glad that some bought Rebisco Strawberry Flavored Sandwich and Jelly Ace. DABEST! Hehe 😀

Do you have any Taylor Swift on your playlist?

Batad, I will see you again. =)

  3. Too bad you missed the falls as it is the second best part of the Batad experience after the view of course, but I am sure you will be back to check it out next time. Beautiful post and love the traditional costume.
