I Wear the Same Clothes

The other day, a relative of mine whom I haven’t seen in years commented that she’s been checking my Facebook pictures. She is impressed that I managed to some parts of the Philippines in a short span of two years and that I am going out of the country every now and then. She is in her forties and I can say that she is financially stable and her family life is going smoothly. With a corporate job in a 9-5 setting, a good provider husband and hardworking kids, she revealed that she only managed to go to Hongkong – Macau last year and that the farthest destination in the Philippines that she’s been to is Ilocos, which I believe is six hours away from Pangasinan via bus.

With Ada in Guimaras - how she liked the shirt at first and despise when i kept on wearing it LOL

I told her to just subscribe to the social networking accounts of the budget airlines to get the best deals. It’s been a dream of hers to go to Boracay and I told her to just go for it and it is worth the time and money. As usual, she had doubts and asked me if I save enough money. I gave her the usual answer.

All of a sudden, she asked me THE question: Do you have a limited number of clothes? Like, how many tops do you own?

I paused for a while and told her the truth that yes, I do have a limited number of clothes, although some of which are the clothes I used even way back in college. I only wear those that I like and i consider as my favorites. I only have three jeans all in all, five shorts (or p3k2 shorts haha) and i usually get black and white colored shirts or stripes so I can wear it in my travels and in the corporate setting if needed.

Hanging out in Cagayan de Oro for the first time with Edu

I then realized that hey, it’s not that i cannot buy new clothes. It’s just that I am lazy and it is not my priority changing outfits and join the fashion trends bandwagon. As long as i am comfortable with what i wear, i don’t really care. As long as i wear the right outfit for a particular event or place, i am safe.

I don’t own rubbershoes or sneakers. My mom was surprised when I told her that fact. She even offered to buy me one, but i refused. I said i’m good with my flipflops and i have one stiletto shoe that never fails to impress whenever i wear it.

In a few hours, my grandfather and i will embark on yet another 5hour roadtrip back to Manila (i’m in Dagupan now) and as i look at my luggage, i can’t help but smile. You know why? because my limited number of clothes and i were able to share a lot of memories that i truly treasure – more than photo-ops and fashion statements. Woot!

Uhm... wazup David? (Davao)

PS: Uhm, now i wonder why i kept on wearing that ‘I Love Boytoy’ shirt often? Why? Must buy new shirts! LOL!

We have almost the same situation, I rarely buy clothes. 80 percent of my clothes are given to me as gifts mostly during Christmas. As long as you are comfortable with what you are wearing and is appropriate for a situation then it’s practically ok. πŸ™‚

I own far too many clothes and I swear, I hate 90% of them. So most of my photos are of me in 2-3 shirts that I don’t hate, haha

Now i realized most of my clothes are from my mom! She loves buying dresses for me and i think she is good in fashion. Shopping is also the reason why we have conflicts at times LOL. What i enjoy most though is that she pays for all the clothes =))
