While the whole nation was excited for PNoy’s inauguration as the 15th President of the Philippines, I went to Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines and enjoy a well-deserved break from the polluted city of Metro Manila. It is the perfect venue for me to use the 50% discount card i won from Nina’s contest

I went to Baguio via Victory Liner’s De Luxe bus. According to some of my friends, the said bus type is the best since it has bigger seats, no stopovers, free snacks and there’s a comfort room inside. They also have their own version of a stewardess instead of having a conductor. The travel time is also shorter. The bus left Victory Liner Cubao at 12:15am sharp and we arrived at Victory Liner Baguio at 4:30AM. Fast, huh?

I smiled when I found out that Microtel Baguio is just located near Victory Liner’s station. Actually, there is a connecting walkway from the terminal to the hotel lobby. It is an ideal location to the visitors who doesn’t really want to worry much on choosing the right hotel. The right hotel is already there

I was impressed when I saw my room. I took the suite room good for two since it is the only room available. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I ended up sleeping right away. The bed is just too tempting to sleep at and the pillows are too huggable. The comforter is soft up to the extent of me wrapping my whole body with it and i eventually slept

And i woke up at around 2:30PM. Gherlyn, my high school friend whom I haven’t seen for five years told me that she’ll be meeting up with her friends in SM Baguio for coffee before going to work. Fortunately, SM Baguio is just five minutes away from Microtel.

After spending the whole afternoon and early evening in the mall at gallivanting around the area (upper and lower session etc), I ended up going back to my hotel room. I was there lying down, relaxing like a real senyorita while watching my favorite soap operas and my favorite Juicy show LOL.

I went to Zola, a 24 hours restaurant near the hotel for Free Wifi and for some pasta. I waited to a friend and left the place at around 3:30AM. For some weird reason, I decided to record a dancing video inside my room at 4:43AM. My room is spacious, huh?

All I needed was two hours of sleep. I went straight to the hotel lobby for my complimentary breakfast. I ate a lot and i noticed that most of the guests were older than I am. I went back to the buffet table thrice. Sarap kasi ng food, eh!

After filling my empty tummy with delicious food, I tried to sleep again but i ended up writing a short story. The view from my window is just too inspiring. I packed my things at 11AM and left my things at the lobby for the checkout.

So far, so good, I really enjoyed my overnight stay at Microtel Baguio. The place is just too perfect for those who’d like to walk around or relax. The hotel strategically located near a mall, a park, convenience store, coffee shop among others. The staff and crew were also nice and accommodating. How I wish though that the wifi access is free

The concept of GoHotels.Ph is pretty interesting. It operates similarly with our favorite budget airline Cebu Pacific, wherein the earlier you book, the cheaper the price.

Together with a number of travel bloggers, I had the chance to be one of the first to have the ‘GoHotels.PH Experience’. I slept there overnight and we were given the chance to eat, sleep and relax at the new hotel that will surely get the attention of every Juan soon.

The check-in time is 2pm. I am impressed with our room knowing its affordable price. Just check the pictures below and be the judge.

According to the presentation presented to us, the hotel has 223 rooms – 93 rooms have queen-sized beds and 130 rooms have twin beds. The room has free wifi access access, LCD TV, handheld/rain shower and 100% cotton sheets. They also have chiropractic and fiberfill pillows. Perfect!

Star Plaza Hotel is one of the highly-recommended hotels in Pangasinan. It is the #1 choice of tourists ever since I was in high school. There was a time years ago wherein I wanted to try and experience how it feels like to stay in the said hotel.

Star Plaza Hotel Junior Suite Room (Single)

During the Holy Week break, I decided to go back to Dagupan City and spend my vacation there. Since I don’t have the new Dagupan house key with me that time, I opted to book an overnight stay at Star Plaza Hotel five hours before I left Manila.

When I arrived, the staff of the hotel were hospitable. They carried my luggages and we went straight to my room. I am happy because the Junior Suite (Single) which was given to me has a window where you can see the view of the Pantal River.

Inspired to surf all day, all night!

Complimentary Mineral Water Bottles

The room is not as big as the others, but it is perfectly fine since I am alone. What I really liked about my room is that the free wifi internet connection is fast and there is complimentary mineral water bottles at the desk.

Star Plaza Hotel Junior Suite Room (Single) Rest Room

The comfort room is OK. I can’t clearly remember if the hot water option is working Usually, the staff of the hotel will call you up before 12PM if you will extend your stay or for any other concerns. You can also ask the staff to do the laundry for you. Function and videoke rooms are located at the second floor (where I celebrated my graduation years ago). The restaurant serves a number of good meals from Chinese to American to Filipino. You can also ask them to bring the food into your room.

Senyorita with the Cousins

I stayed in Star Plaza Hotel for three days (my wallet says ouch! LOL). I really had a pleasant ‘me’ time during that break. I am impressed with my room and some of the facilities of the hotel. I personally think that they have to work on how they interact with some tourists. I just noticed that some of them can’t help but speak in pangalatok even in front of their guests, who cannot understand them. There is this one staff (most probably a trainee) who never smiled at all. Come on, you are here to make people happy and relaxed. Do not spread the loneliness LOL.

So there. I do recommend Star Plaza Hotel if you have enough budget. For those who would rather stay in a cheaper yet safe place, you can go to Star Value Inn, which is located just at the back of Star Plaza Hotel. You can get a room there for as low as Php 300 with wifi connection.

On my second Boracay trip, we were planning to stay at Taj Guesthouse as recommended by Melo. However, they were already fully-booked when we called them up three days before our arrival (Ok, I take the blame on this LOL!). Our second option is Tans Guesthouse, where my grandparents, bestfriend and I stayed last June. We really enjoyed our two day stay there and we were well taken care of by the staff. Unluckily, they’re also fully-booked for the weekend.

Tans referred us to Eriko’s House (Station 2), which its front desk is located adjacent to Tans Guesthouse. Iwent to their website and browse through the photos of their rooms. Since we were already desperate to get a room, we rejoiced when the said hotel confirmed that they still have vacant rooms left.

This was a huge relief – there’s nothing worse than being stuck in a foreign environment in a residence you’re not particularly fond of. To find these rooms as though we were browsing britanniahotels.com was fantastic, and we were very happy. It also meant that we could stay at a recommended location, and this was reassuring, especially as it came from a trusted source.

Winston and Xef stayed in the Twin De Luxe Room. I paid Php 1,200 a night for my room since it’s a weekend (Php1000 weekdays) while the boys paid Php 1500 for their room. Our check-in time is 2PM, but the staff that morning was kind enough to let us stay in our room as early as 9AM.. Hurray!

Eriko’s House somewhat surpassed our expectations. We were expecting to stay in a simple room with white bed sheet and pale room design. However, my room is just awesome. If only I can have my room repainted similar to it! There’s a veranda too just in case you want to smoke or simply do your own emo moment there.

The room of Winston and Xef is also spacious and clean. There’s a Cable TV, Aircon, Refrigirator, Cabinet and Safety Deposit Box.

The bathroom is also clean. They have hot and cold water. There’s also a rack where you can place your wet towels, bathing suit, underwear and so on!

The location is very accessible since there’s a nearby mini-grocery where you can buy your toiletries and other personal needs. The hotel is just a few minutes away from the beach.

So are we going back to Eriko’s House? Definitely!
